Watercraft (ie boats & personal watercraft) between 2.5m and 24m in length must conform to the RCD in order to be sold/used in Europe (and a growing list of non-EU countries). The Directive also requires engines & some boat components to be CE marked in their own right, if they are to be fitted to recreational craft.
The new RCD (2013/53/EU) replaced the old RCD (94/25/EC as amended by 2003/44/EC) on 18th January 2017.
The PED applies to the design and manufacture (but NOT operation) of pressure equipment with a maximum allowable pressure greater than 0.5 bar (gauge). Any single product or assembly that contains such a pressure falls within the scope & must be CE marked.
Safety Accessories, such as a pressure or temperature switch, that does not contain pressure, also fall within the scope if used to control pressure equipment.
